This trip to Las Vegas for the level 10 High tech Camp/College showcase was the first time I flew without my mom or dad. (My mom had to coach a meet on Sunday and my dad had to work on Saturday) My coach Annie and I left really early Saturday morning, landed, hit the strip and I won a Minion playing the ring toss. We watched the college showcase for a little bit, then went to see a Cirque de Soleil show – Ka. On Sunday we woke up, ate breakfast and went to the gym for the camp. There were alot of different college coaches helping at each event and walking around watching. I did pretty good on my events but didn’t have my best bar day 😦 But I did end with catching a couple of each releases on bars to end the bar rotation. Vault and floor were pretty good and I did felt really good on Beam. After the clinic we went to a buffet with really good dessert and then ended coming home really late! It was fun!
This Halloween I was a Peacock and my sister was Little Red Riding Hood! We spent our Halloween with my Nonni, Papa, their dog Bernie, My Grandpa, My Uncle Mike and Aunt Sam, Lilly, Jr, My mom and dad, Belinda, Cierra, Kevin, Annie, Jeff, Reese and Reagan.
It was the first Halloween in a long time that our favorite house didn’t give out large bags of full size candy bars! We were so sad 😦 We ended up with alot of candy anyways. 🙂
On Thursday Dream Xtreme Team members skipped practice and went to the Cool Patch Pumpkin Patch! We took pictures, went on a hay ride, played in the hay house, went through the mini maze and hung out in the corn bath. Then picked pumpkins. It was really fun. After all the coaches and their kids went out to dinner at Chilis. Then on Saturday, my mom and Mandie threw a Bunco Bash fundraiser. Adults and kids were separated and played Bunco. It was fun. My family didn’t win any prizes. Bunco prizes or raffle prizes but we still had a lot of fun.
I just finished the 3 day Elite & Tops gymnastics camp at SCEGA, in Temecula. It was fun! I met some new friends and got to work with some of the National Training Staff coaches. I got some new skills and combos on bars. Some good drills and tips for the other events. Mckayla Maroney’s coach Arthur worked with me abunch on bars and Tami Biggs a bunch on beam. I won a contest with Doc Allison for mental strength and got a shirt. :). It was pretty fun! Were on our way back to Newport Beach for some beach fun. Only 9 days left until we start school. 7th grade here I come!
Lets see, since Nationals I finished 6th grade, started training more hours during summer, started crossfit with my team, found out some good news about my nonni (her cancer has stopped growing) went to Tahoe, and Nevada City, had fun on 4th of July, went to Roseville night slides
Phoenix Az. We went on April 10th which was my moms birthday. We ate at the Hard Rock cafe to celebrate. Through the trip we also ate at TGIF in Chase stadium, Alice Coopers, Majerles, and the Tilted Kilt. All really cool places! We took a light rail ride with the team to Tempe Az. And had popsicles, checked out the Arizona State campus and a sweet shop candy store. The day after the meet, we went to the Arizona science center and explored for a couple hours with my Grandpa, my mom, dad, Ari, Annie, Jeff, Reese and Reagan. Grandpa had us go to the planetarium and watch about the planets. We also made egg drop devices that you drop from a story up. My egg survived the drop! So did Aris, Reeses, and my moms. Annie’s and Grandpa’s did not. Right after that we rode a sky cycle which is a bike on a tight rope with a weight. It was pretty cool.
Saturday morning was the day of the meet, I woke up and I was tired. I stated on vault. My first one I waited for the judges for awhile before I competed so my run was slow because my legs seemed cold/tired. My 2nd vault was better.
The week before my last meet (Delta Classic Mar 9th) I was doing a swing half and kinda missed the low bar but my thumb didn’t and I dislocated my thumb. My coach popped it in a few times but it really hurt. She thought it might be broken but my meet was that weekend and I really wanted to compete. Then on that weds. I had a bad sore throat, I couldnt swallow and thought it might be strep so we went to the doctor. I had a throat infection, my doctor offered to take an xray of my thumb, she said I definatly dislocated it, it could be broken but we had to bring my Nonni to the doctor right after, so I didn’t get an xray right then. She gave me a splint to wear and said even if it was broken, I would just get a splint anyway. That weekend, I competed at the Delta Classic, I placed 3rd on vault with 9.225, 4th on bars with an 8.6, 4th on beam with a 9.2 and 4th on floor with a 9.025. My all-around was 36.050 for 4th place. Right after that meet my thumb was still hurting and I was practicing my bar routine, I was gianting towards the low bar and hit my foot on the bar, It hurt so bad I came down and rolled around for a good 5 minutes. It was bruised instantly. I tried to finish practice but it hurt too bad. I took the next day off and then went to the doctor to find out if I broke my foot, while I was there I had an xray on my thumb too. It turns out that my foot was badly bruised but not broken but my thumb was definitely broken. The doctor said it looked like it started to mend already so I just kept wearing the splint. She told me to wear it for another 3-4 weeks. I just conditioned for thursday and Friday since my foot hurt so bad and then went back to full practice Monday.
At the State meet, I finally stuck all 4 events. I had my highest all around score for my level 10 season. It was pretty cool because people from my team came to watch. 🙂 I started on bars which is my weakest event right now, and its not because my thumb is broken. I got a 8.9. Then went to beam and did a solid routine with only a wiggle on my side aerial and a step on my dismount. 9.45, Floor was next and I felt like I did my best routine I could do that day. 9.225. Then was vault. My first vault I competed was a tuck full and I landed pretty good. Annie asked me what vault I wanted to do for my next vault. I wanted to do a layout full. So I did. It was my best vault of the season. 9.55. In fact that was my best vault score in my whole gymnastics life. I was pretty happy. My all-around score was a 37.125 – I finally got a 37 this season. I also qualified to regionals!
Vault 4th place
Beam – STATE BEAM CHAMPION (second year in a row)
AA – 4th place
I was happy. Now its onto regionals. From regionals you can qualify to Nationals but you have to be the top 7 in your division. I am going to have to have my best meet ever to make it.
Below are my floor and beam routines. My mom thought she video’d the bars but she cut it off and they couldn’t get the vault, there were too many people in the way blocking vault and my landing.
We celebrated Nonni’s Birthday by going to The Melting Pot in Larkspur. It’s her first birthday since she found out she has cancer so we wanted to do something really special. We’ve been to the Melting pot in Sacramento before but they were full so we drove to this one. I like this melting pot because its in a really old building/bunker and its like a cave. We had fun, I love this place.
This meet there were 12 girls in my division, me the youngest at 11 and then it went all the way to 18 years old! I was doing good then it came to bars. I went for my routine and then added a couple of skills. At least I stayed on the bar! This was a good meet for me because I flipped my full on vault for the first time and landed on my feet!!
Vault 9.25 5th place
Beam 9.375 3rd place
AA 36.1 6th place
